Childbirth Educator Certification Requirements

Requirements to become provisionally certified:

• Successfully complete written work from chapters 1-7 in the training manual
• Successfully complete the open-book final exam
• Current membership with ALACE

Requirements to become fully certified:

• Complete all of the above
• Complete required reading list
• Obtain six (6) positive, written evaluations from your students

Most trainees become provisionally certified in 10-14 months and begin teaching, but there is no time limit or penalties for delays.
