Pathways to Independence: We are active mentor’s through the Pathways program providing one-on-one long-term mentor-ship and shadowing for pregnant and parenting teen mothers. Our role is to become co-mothers, offering each young mother our personal lives and parenting style as a living example of wholesome, healthy parenting while taking care of ourselves and independent women.
International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC): We are members and active supporters of ICTC. A non-profit organization that works to decrease the infant mortality rate in the African American community and abroad.
The Fistula Project: We are members and donors of the Fistula Project. A fistula is an abnormal tunnel connecting two body cavities (such as the rectum and the vagina) The purpose of The Fistula Project is primarily to help Ethiopian women suffering from obstetric fistula. However, the project also plans to undertake education and women’s rights campaigns in Ethiopia. We plan to educate Ethiopian Americans and Americans about women with fistula and raise funds to cover their surgery costs. This project is very important because it is dedicated to our mothers, our sisters and our daughters.
African Birth Collective: African Birth Collective is a non-profit organization that has grown out of the need for greater safety and empowerment of women in their birth experiences and a desire to bridge the gap between traditional and modern midwifery.
