www.aims.org.uk – The Association for the Improvement of Maternity Services (AIMS) information and research on birth-related issues.

www.atlc.com – Alliance for Transforming the Lives of Children (known as aTLC), comprised of parents, grandparents, researchers, physicians, nurses, counselors, teachers, and others professionals in the fields of education, social service and health care. ATLC provides information and research on the physical, intellectual, psychological and spiritual needs of children and a blueprint for meeting these from conception through the teen years.

www.attachmentparenting.org – Attachment Parenting International & information about attachment parenting and referrals to parent support groups in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

www.birthscene.com – Birthscenes purpose is to improve maternal and child health outcomes by making viable alternatives in childbearing issues more accessible, available and accepted. Online resource library of current news and journal articles related to birth, pregnancy, parenting etc.

www.elizabethdavis.com – website of Elizabeth Davis, CPM midwife – website on midwifery, women’s sexuality and spirituality, women’s intuition, and the “blood mysteries”; also women’s circles, courses and training for midwives

www.breastfeeding.com – comprehensive website for mothers who are breastfeeding or thinking about breastfeeding. Articles, lactation consultant directory, breastfeeding art, latching-on video clip, support message boards, opportunities to “ask the experts”, etc.

www.cdc.gov – Centers for Disease Control; policy statements and guidelines for screening for various pregnancy related concerns (HIV, Group B Strep for example) and Vital Statistics regarding births and infant and maternal mortality.

www.childbirthconnection.org – Childbirth Connection, formerly the Maternity Center Association, is a long-term national program to promote evidence-based maternity care. Excellent resource for consumers and professionals

www.cochrane.org – The Cochrane Collaboration is an international non-profit and independent organization, dedicated to making up-to-date, accurate information about the effects of healthcare readily available worldwide. It produces and disseminates systematic reviews of healthcare interventions and promotes the search for evidence in the form of clinical trials and other studies of interventions. The Cochrane Collaboration was founded in 1993 and named for the British epidemiologist, Archie Cochrane. The major product of the Collaboration is the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews which is published quarterly as part of The Cochrane Library

News is an independent newspaper that provides the practicing obstetrician/gynecologist with timely and relevant news and commentary about clinical developments in the field and about the impact of health care policy on the specialty and the physicianís practice. Can subscribe to receive email newsletters or view online.

www.gentlebirth.org – dedicated to providing information that will help families have the best birth possible – a safe, gentle, positive birth experience that supports happy, healthy families. Includes a section called The Midwife Archives, which is a collection of information about all aspects of pregnancy, birth and well-woman care from a midwifery perspective.

www.midwiferytoday.com – Midwifery Today began solely as a magazine in 1986. They now publish a quarterly magazine, a quarterly newsletter and produces a weekly e-mail newsletter, as well as sell several books, educational aids, and birth related jewelry.

www.midwifeinfo.com – MidwifeInfo.com disseminates information and provides resources to midwives, aspiring midwives, midwifery students and midwifery consumers

www.perinatology.com – Perinatology.com is maintained by Focus Information Technology, as an educational resource for perinatologists (high-risk obs), referring physicians, and genetic counselors. Information on the site has been written by perinatologists and genetic counselors of The San Gabriel Valley Perinatal Medical Group.

www.promom.org – Promotion of Mother’s Milk, Inc. (ProMoM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness and public acceptance of breastfeeding. Features growth charts for breastfed babies and 101 reasons to breastfeed (www.promom.org/101/index.html).

www.pubmed.org – PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s digital archive of life sciences journal literature. Access to the full text of articles in PMC is free, except where a journal requires a subscription for access to recent articles
